Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor entangled in the expansive Georgia election interference case involving Donald Trump, has reached a settlement in his divorce proceedings, just a day before a scheduled hearing where he was anticipated to address allegations of an extramarital affair. This development spares Wade from potential questioning regarding accusations of an improper romantic involvement with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, along with claims of using case earnings for extravagant vacations with her.

The temporary divorce agreement, finalized on Tuesday, eliminates the need for Wade to testify in the Wednesday hearing, where inquiries about the alleged affair might have arisen. Trump and two co-defendants are seeking to disqualify Willis’ office and dismiss the case, citing the purported affair and financial connections as grounds for conflict of interest.

Thomas Davis, staff attorney to Cobb County Judge Henry Thompson, confirmed the cancellation of the Wade v. Wade hearing scheduled for January 31, 2024, stating that a Consent Temporary Order had been entered by Judge Thompson.

A court order signed by Thompson indicates that the parties have reached a temporary agreement addressing all pertinent matters, and the terms of this agreement will remain undisclosed.

Andrea Dyer Hastings, attorney for Wade’s wife, Joycelyn, clarified that while the agreement resolved issues regarding temporary alimony and attorney’s fees, the case is ongoing, with efforts directed towards equitable asset division after more than twenty-six years of marriage.

Willis had appointed Wade to the special prosecutor role in November 2021, amid the intensifying investigation into 2020 election interference by Trump and his associates. Allegations against Willis and Wade emerged in a court filing by former Trump 2020 campaign official Mike Roman, who was indicted in the Georgia fake electors scheme. Both Willis and Wade have yet to publicly address the accusations, with the Fulton County district attorney’s office given until the end of the week to provide a written response to Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, overseeing the extensive racketeering case.
